Trevor & Hannah Martin - Power to Change

Long Term Investments
One of our greatest joys is working with students who lead out in the Power to Change ministry. Campus ministry lends itself to a constant change with students graduating and first year students coming in every year. We get the privilege to journey with some students for 4 or 5 years, and see how their faith grows in that time. Students are taking large steps of faith when they agree to trust God to work through them as they lead others.  It is difficult with the pressures of classes, exams, and assignments to be willing to take time to invest in their walk with God.  Hopefully, these are things they are learning now so that they can be lifelong disciples of Jesus.

Olivia is a student leader at the University of Waterloo and this is what she's learning from God recently.
"The Lord has been very patient with me in my busyness and consistent in pulling at my spirit to draw me away in prayer and intimacy with Him throughout the day. He is consistently reminding me of how my leading is simply Him leading through me. Also, the Lord has challenged how I perceive His will for me using 2 Corinthians 12...God didn't remove what made Paul weak which kept Paul lowly, instead he taught Paul to lean on Him despite being weak."

We're so grateful that we get to come alongside God when He is working in the lives of students on campus.  Please pray for Olivia and our other student leaders as they continue to trust God as students and disciples of Jesus.

Remembering Uncle Wayne

Unfortunately on October 11, Trevor's uncle Wayne Hockley passed away after a short, but intense battle with cancer. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of kids and his grandkids. He also valued deep conversation and desired to know how people were really doing. In fact, he was a care pastor at our church for about 10 years. He journeyed with many people during dark and difficult situations -including walking with Trevor during his mental health crisis in 2019. Even though he was a chatty guy, he knew when to listen and just be present. We will miss his presence in our family and in our church community very much. But we are grateful to have known him and to know that he is now in the presence of Jesus.
