Would you come share at our campus?

This was the last minute request I got one Thursday afternoon last month. I wanted to say "no" so badly. It had already been a bit of a different week as I took a day to attend a friend's dad's funeral, I was helping to cook for a student retreat on the weekend, and I was supporting one of my teammates to navigate the unexpected death of one of our overseas staff members.

I knew that if I said yes I wouldn't be able to start preparing until days before I needed to speak, but something about the request compelled me. The request came from a newly formed P2C group at Brantford Laurier, who wanted to learn more about global missions opportunities. So I said yes and God helped me not to stress and to prepare within my limits.

As I drove to Brantford I prayed that I would be a blessing and that 1-2 students from the group would go on a mission trip with us this year. When I arrived on campus, I was warmly greeted by the small group of students. They were so appreciative that I had come.

It was an honour to look at Scripture and talk about God's heart for the nations, and to share about some of the things God had taught me through my mission trip experiences. At the end of my talk, I gave the students an opportunity to answer the question, "What is a next step that you're considering related to global missions?" Here are the answers I got:

  • Look into ways I can give to missions financially and pray.

  • Ask more people about their experiences with missions (especially students who have gone on trips).

  • Pray for those sent out.

  • Find the right time to go on a mission trip.

Friends at, you partnership with me in ministry makes opportunities like this happen. Thanks so much. For a few other January ministry highlights, see the pictures below.

How you can be praying

  • 1) Global interns - in August we are hoping to send a team of 4-6 interns to Vietnam for 10 months to help launch a student ministry in a new city. We had 11 people come out to an info session in January. The deadline to apply is March 1st.

  • 2) Honduras mission trip  -  February 15-23 36 students, staff, and children will be in Honduras doing medical, education and construction outreach with our local partners.

  • 3) Personal - To help explore some health issues for the next 3 months I will be eliminating grains and dairy from my diet. This is a daunting task.
