Charlotte Martin - Power to Change

What next step did you take?

In December, we surveyed students involved in P2C and asked what next step did you take in your relationships with Jesus this semester? When you analyze the responses, the picture below shows how they can be categorized - 60 students took steps related to their devotional life, 50 students took steps related to evangelism and outreach and so on.

Below are specific next steps some of the students said they took.

"I started prioritizing Bible reading and praying this semester, and started a devotional plan."

"I invited a non-Christian to my small group."

"I started to tell people I follow Jesus and mention Him when I talk sometimes. I was afraid to before."

"By stepping into a leadership position I had not previously considered for myself. Despite my own doubts."

"Getting baptized in December."

"I found a community of Christian friends!"

For some students going on a mission trip is a next step of faith for them. In February, we sent a team of 36 people to Honduras to partner with Adventure in Missions to do educational, medical, and construction ministry.

I've been reading updates from the students who went and most of them comment on the friendliness and hospitality of the Hondurans. Many of them also shared about growing in prayer and described the trip as life changing.

Nimeesha, a Toronto student, who was part of the education team shared:

"For the Grade 4-6 classroom devotional, our team shared about Jesus calling Peter and Andrew to be his disciples. To be interactive, we created an obstacle course where the students got into pairs and one would guide the other through the course blindfolded. Just as the blindfolded kid had to rely entirely on their partner’s guidance, we are called to trust Jesus fully. The kids really enjoyed the game and it was great teaching them about faith and trusting in Jesus.

Another great memory was visiting Mangulile, a rural area in Honduras. While there, we distributed clothing to families, shared meals with the locals, attended a church service, and played with the children.
It was a joy to see the happiness on the kids' faces when we played parachute games with them and gave them balloons. Their laughter, joy and contentment with so little, made me realize how privileged we are in Canada. It was a reminder to find contentment in what God has already provided, instead of always yearning for more."

What a privilege to be a part of helping students take steps of faith and grow deeper in their relationship with God.

Excited to serve Him,

Charlotte
