Illustrating the Magnitude

[CONGRESS UPDATE 3 of 4]

Thousands of people streamed by as I squinted my eyes in concentration listening intently to a participant's story at the Fourth Lausanne Congress. "God just connected me with a friend of a friend and I realized that, although we had never met before, the way we both were building God's Kingdom had been directly impacting each other." She used beautiful imagery to illustrate the impact of the body of Christ, a network and movement, under God's hand working together in her sphere of influence.

Rewind to 30 minutes earlier, I had been discussing how to illustrate this element of the Lausanne movement with a volunteer motion designer who was serving on my team. Leading a team of eight creative volunteers was life giving. Being from Chile, Brazil, USA, Israel, Pakistan, Thailand, Canada/Singapore, each with missional hearts to serve felt like a taste of heaven (not to mention their youthfulness made it fun).

My overall highlight of this past year was working alongside a team of leaders that gave their all to serve the global church. They trusted God with the unknowns, forgave each other as tasks were were fumbled or dropped, cheered each other on and continued to anticipate God moving and building his Kingdom through the Congress. It was an unbelievable honour to guide the process and decisions surrounding the branding and creative direction for the Lausanne Movement and the Fourth Lausanne Congress.

WBC Friends, because of you standing along side us in ministry, I can step forward and continue to serve as a creative leader, bringing along other missional-minded designers to provide creative resources for the global church.  We couldn't serve the global church without your faithful prayer and financial support.

Below are some behind the scenes videos and photos of the fuller creative experience we put together for the Congress.

There were tears when we realized the four exterior banners designed by my team were installed in reverse order breaking up the gradient that was to flow from left to right. Now we laugh about it.

The largest banner on the left was 20m/66' long. Massive.

Celebrating the final day at Congress, united in thanksgiving and fatigue.
