Dear Wallenstein family,
The Guayaquil camp week ended last Friday and it was SUCH a good week! Thank you for making it possible! The youth were so happy to be there- they were there to enjoy themselves and to make the most of the week. Normally during the camp week there is some sort of drama, but this time we had the opposite. We saw some of our youth girls take the initiative of reaching out to girls they hadn’t been getting along with, we saw other friendships form and blossom, and some of our youth accepted Christ as their savior. The Sunday after camp, our church was full of youth. A baptism class was held during the sermon, and all of a sudden we realized the auditorium wasn’t as full as it had been and it was because a good number of the youth had gone to the class! We have a whatsapp chat with the youth and they haven’t stopped writing in it all week- teasing each other and sending Bible verses.
The camp week was a great way to bring the weekly youth meetings throughout the year to a concentrated time where councilors interacted with the youth personally and encouraged decisions to follow Christ. Thank you for making this a possibility. You at Wallenstein were remembered at camp and we all thanked God for you and your involvement in the camp week.
“This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.” 2 Corinthians 9: 12-14
These verses were read at church last week and we feel these words represent you and camp.
We would appreciate your continued prayers for the youth. Pray for those who want to get baptized, that they would face no impediments in taking this step and would do so with a correct understanding. Pray that their excitement for spiritual things would not fade but rather be transformed into something stable that lasts a lifetime. Pray for wisdom for us and the youth leaders as we decide how to best encourage them all.
In Christ,
The Espinozas,
Raul, Jessenia, Tiago and Danilo
