Charlotte Martin - June 2024

1) We currently have 52 staff and students participating in four different mission trips. These trips will be wrapping up mid-June. Pray for opportunities to have deep spiritual conversations with local friends and to point them to Christ. Pray also for students as they transition home after these 6 week mission trips.

  • On Nations Next Door (Ottawa) participants are reaching international students through building cross-cultural friendships and serving their physical, social, and spiritual needs.

  • In Vietnam we come alongside the local campus ministry to develop genuine friendships and share the gospel with Vietnamese students through English corners, picnics, hanging out, and playing sports together.

  • On PRAXIS Edmonton we partner with urban ministries focused on reaching vulnerable populations. Participants are stretched to practice being a whole person who lives an integrated life on mission.

  • In Desert Rain we engage with our partners in the Arab World in local student ministry that is highly relational and puts hospitality at the core.

2) Praise God for a new teammate, Ruby. Pray for her as she raises financial support for the summer and transitions onto our team in the fall.

3) Pray for me to be a leader who is growing in friendship and love for God as well as competency as global missions director.

4) We hope to add 1-2 new mission trip options to our current 7 for 2025. Pray for wisdom and guidance as we explore options.

5) We are hoping to send 6-8 global interns to Desert Rain and Vietnam in Aug 2025 for 8 months. As we promote this opportunity over the next year, pray that God would raise up interested graduating students to go.

One of our goals as a global missions team is to help students care about what God is doing around the world. That is why my team, along with our Strategies and Operations department, created an interactive map to help us pray for the world as a ministry. Russ & Meredith Martin - June 2024

Work with Lausanne Movement

Our major work is supporting Lausanne's Fourth Congress on World Evangelisation at Incheon, Korea 22-28 September. The congress will engage 5,000 people onsite from 200 countries and another 10,000 online through the Congress Virtual Experience.

Pray for:

  • Russ as he guides the registration, operations, marketing, communication and digital strategy for the congress.

  • Meredith as she directs all the creative elements for the congress.

  • High capacity leaders and volunteers to join the planning and preparation efforts.

  • A number of participants are struggling with the high costs of travel and getting to Korea.

  • Fundraising efforts to support participants that need it.

  • That Russ and Meredith would lead well amongst a complicated cross-cultural, global team and leadership environment.

  • That the Congress would live out the theme of "Let the Church declare and display Christ together."

Work with Indigitous

Our major work is supporting a network of communities around the world seeking to bring the gospel to new people and places using innovative digital strategies.

Pray for:

  • An event in India on June 15 calling those with talent in the digital space to fresh innovation in bringing the gospel to new people and places.

  • 80 city champions to sign up for our global hackathon in October.

  • Our expansion in Africa. We need fresh leadership and resourcing.

  • Clarity in moving our MissionHub app forward.

Family and personal

Praise for:

  • That Wyatt received a generous scholarship to a 'Tier 1' international school.

  • For a surprise gift of a bird "Cheerio" for Gwenyth to care for.

  • That Heath was chosen for a "select" soccer team with extra game play.

Pray for:

  • Health and safety as Russ travels to the USA, Korea, India and Turkey in the next two months.

  • A strong finish to the kids' school year.

  • The community group we host in our home on Fridays, that deep seeds of the gospel would be sown into our lives.

  • God's continued provision of financial resources for all the ministry efforts and teams and people we lead.

Robert & Susan Martin - June 2024

Praise:

  • Opportunities to minister in one particular institution (JAU) are increasing.

  • We were not exposed to a bloody fight that took place in the chapel following a service in Collins Bay Medium.

  • Successful completion of a 6 week Bible study. We had positive feedback from the men and we rejoice in the faithful consistent attendance.

  • BG is on the street in a halfway house and his most recent communication with us was:  "God has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. I am putting in an application for full parole in June."

  • Pray for his consistent steady walk with the Lord.  So important for continued success.

Pray:

  • For repentant hearts for P and C.  They know biblical truth and righteousness but they need to acknowledge their sin as King David did.

  • For physical safety as some prison environments can be very volatile.

  • For F.  His son was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident two months ago.  It is very difficult to support his wife and other children from prison.

  • For N....a correctional guard.  Last week after we were finishing up our weekly program with the inmates he approached us and asked if we could provide him with a Bible.   We chatted for 20 minutes and suggested he start with the Gospel of John.

  • For D.  He has a Christian upbringing but made some unwise choices that have brought him to prison. It is very difficult for his family.  We are praying D does not grow bitter, disregarding Truth and becoming derailed from Christ-centered living.

Raul & Jessenia Espinoza - June 2024

Pray:

  • Youth group beginning in June

  • That the planning for the new youth season would be organized and that we would follow God's leading.

  • A young adults' group is in the works to start soon, after there not being one for years.

  • Safety in Ecuador

  • Continued violence. That we and our community would be safe.

  • Power outages and high temperatures have made life difficult. We have had a bit of respite recently-please pray that would continue.

  • Hope of Bastión school

  • New school year started in May. The teachers seem excited and encouraged. Please pray they would continue that way in the coming months.

  • For quick adjustment for the two new Christian education teachers. Junior high-Orlando, a young man who used to be a student at our school and Elementary, Anny-a Salvadorian missionary who is wonderful with kids. Pray too they would have wisdom to encourage the students to pursue Christ.

  • That we would find more monthly sponsors for the school.

  • For wisdom and strength for Raul as he helps make big decisions as part of the school board.

  • For our family

  • That we would have wisdom to raise our boys well between two cultures and languages.
