Praise & Prayer

Esther Frey - July 2019

PRAISE:  Rejoice with me as I found several answers to my questions and so I have been able to make better decisions.  May the Lord continue to confirm His will. Brian, who is coordinating the Emmaus office decided to stay in Puerto Rico so he will continue until I return.  His original plan was to go back to Florida end of July. My sister Dorcas and Arthur Taylor are celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this month. PRAY:  This is camp month.  Sadly the children's camp had to be cancelled because of lack of helpers.  DVBS will be held at the chapel July 15-19. Pray that many will make decisions to accept Christ and to grow in Him. Also for the staff that they will be sensitive to the needs of campers, and those who attend DVBS.

Phil & Andrea - July 2019

PRAISE: For a smooth departure from Ghana and and uneventful flights to Canada; for a good reunion with the boys; that we could attend Kieran's graduation on June 11; for an interesting and challenging Module 2 of the Integrated Mission Leadership course during the last week of June; that Cara has been offered a part-time summer job; that Liam got a job in Waterloo for his Sept-Dec work term; that Stephen, a Ghanaian colleague, and his wife Aisha, were spared serious injury in a motorbike accident. Stephen has had surgery on a broken arm. Please pray for good healing. PRAY: For Cara as she starts work; that Cara will enjoy ReBoot, a re-entry retreat for third culture kids, July 13-20; that we will have a good week of vacation at a friend's cottage; for continued guidance regarding our future location.

Jenn Brubacher - July 2019

PRAISE: June was a full month! On June 2nd, I spoke at the Listowel Mennonite Church - a great opportunity to share what God is doing at Youth For Christ and what He’s been teaching me. We ended school programs and closed the year off with a barbeque. Free food never fails to bring in a crowd! On June 15, a group of 25 staff and students went to Wonderjam, a Christian concert at Wonderland. Most of the students were from our drop-in centre and don’t know Jesus. We are thankful for times like these to connect outside of program time and do life with them for a day. We leave for South Africa on July 16! We are ironing out the final details and are expectant God is going to move in mighty ways. PRAY: For safety, health and smooth travels as we go to South Africa. We are well connected with our host couple, who also work at Youth For Christ in Africa, and we are thankful for their generosity and willingness to partner with us. Pray they would be blessed, we would be able to serve them well and God would continue to work through them in their community. This is the first year we are going to South Africa (previous years we have gone to Botswana, where our host team used to live) so please pray for wisdom, that we would be intune with the Spirit and have discernment for myself and the other leaders as we guide these students into something that is also new for us. Major headaches and migraines have prevented me from serving at full capacity-- please pray for healing.

Esther Frey - June 2019

PRAISE:  Met a very helpful doctor when I received the eye injection.  Yolanda is responding fairly well to the chemo treatments for bone cancer.  I've been added to a volunteer instructors list to communicate with New Life Prison Ministry students online.  I'm enjoying it. Have a family doctor now, who will see me May 31. Weekly teen activities are beginning at the chapel in Puerto Rico with the new missionaries from Word of Life, Ramon and Lavinia Ibanez.  PRAY:  Asking for God's clear guidance as to where I should be.  For the teen activities during the summer. For camp planning as they hold camps in July.

Russ & Meredith - June 2019

PRAISE:  Our schooling application was accepted; that over 100k people saw the livestream of the Celebration of Hope and a handful committed their lives to Christ through online chat; for a good engagement with indigenous digital missionary leaders during a training in a closed country.  PRAY:  That Wyatt and Gwenyth would both get placements at the 'East' campus of our school; we will host 5 interns for two weeks June 1-14, Meredith is running point; for Russ as he shares the gospel with curious people visiting issuesiface.com.
