Trevor & Hannah Martin - Power to Change (local)

[Trevor gathered with Power to Change-Students (P2C-S) Leaders in February]

We are so grateful for your support in helping students take their next step towards Jesus!  Your partnership in the gospel has helped students across Canada know Jesus. We often tell you stories of what God is doing on campus, but have not shared in a while what our day to day role entails.

Trevor's Role
Trevor's official role is National Campus Strategies Administrator. His main role is to help the National Campus Director (Dan) execute ideas and think/pray through different trainings, meetings and ministry situations that come up. He also checks Dan's emails, does his travel arrangements and does approvals for Dan's subordinates (reimbursements, vacation etc). God has given Trevor the gift of administration and he is using it to help those who are gifted in other ways. He works behind the scenes to support P2C-S Team Leaders and Staff across Canada. Here are some of Trevor's current projects:

  • Recruiting and following up students interested in a P2C internship

  • Completing a Soul Care course to help grow in my walk with God

  • Supervising 4 Campus Staff in Waterloo, Montreal, Calgary & Vancouver

  • Leading bi-weekly meetings with Team Leaders from across Canada

  • Administering our Christian Copyright Licensing International License

  • Shipping our Equipped Bible Study Books (Let us know if you'd like any free hard copies!)

Hannah's Role
I am on the Waterloo Campus Ministry team that serves University of Waterloo (UW), Laurier and Conestoga College. My focus is currently at UW. Our team is in a time of transition right now and I am the only female staff ministering directly with students this school term. In my 20 hours every week, I need to have wisdom in how to invest in the women in Power to Change at UW.  There are many gifted female student leaders at UW and I try to spend my time investing in them as they invest in others. My joy is helping make disciples for Jesus and my schedule reflects that. I meet up with 5 different women to help them grow as Jesus' disciples. I also mentor a staff intern in London, Ontario.  The rest of my time is devoted to planning with the staff team and the many other projects that come up, like our student winter retreat that we just had (pictured below). I enjoyed cooking and being in charge of the food!

Please continue to pray for us as we minister to staff and students across the country.

Students from UW, Laurier and Conestoga College came together in February for a retreat of training, encouragement and fun! (try to find Hannah!)

Some of the student feedback was:
"This experience has given me the tools to better explain my faith to others, share the gospel and further my own knowledge."
"I think this weekend God was revealing to me that my actions don't always reflect that i truly believe the gospel is good news and good news for everyone. So, my next steps are to be more open about my faith and on mission for God! It was a good reminder that God invites us to be a part of his great mission! its not about us or what we can do at all, but for his glory alone."
"I hope to grow more in trusting God to step out of my comfort zone to evangelize to friends and family. I hope to become a better witness by using good language, treating others with kindness and being a light on campus."

P2C-S NEXT Step Awards is an exciting opportunity Power to Change-Students is offering for those planning to enter into their first year of post-secondary education. These financial awards are designed to be a part of that process by encouraging a healthy transition to post-secondary, both practically, through offering funds and spiritually, through connecting students to faith communities on campus. The application process fosters reflection for the student on the forthcoming transition and necessitates a student reaching out to a mentor or youth leader. We are so encouraged to see other organizations like Youth for Christ partner with us so that now we can offer 100+ awards, totaling up to $50,000.

Do you know any students heading off to college or university with whom you could share about the NEXT Steps Awards? Or any families, teachers, or leaders sending any kids off to university or college?

More info and applications at p2c.com/students/awards/. You can also feel free to introduce us via email to any graduating students you know, and we would be happy to connect them personally with P2C on their future campus!
