Robert & Susan - February 2022

MARTIN, ROBERT & SUSAN (Kingston, ON; Kingston Prison Ministry; MSC) PRAISE/PRAY: M is doing well in the halfway house and is pleased to do his own grocery shopping, banking and experiencing normal life on the street. Monday afternoon Bible study has resumed with the halfway house men following various restrictions. Pray for this time of fellowship and outreach. Susan’s father passed away January 12 after a year of decline. We praise God that he was able to remain at home as we cared for him. We are weary at the end of it all but we greatly rejoice that he is now safely home with our Saviour. We held a private family service and burial; Mom is doing well; pray she will adjust to the apartment she is moving to. Pray we would have access soon to the institutions. The personal contact with inmates adds so much more clarity and meaning.

Gord & Heather - February 2022

MARTIN, GORD & HEATHER (Waterloo, ON; Vision Ministries) PRAISE/PRAY: I am continuing to work with a church in crisis, doing well now but we have a big challenge ahead of us. Indy, slooowly regaining strength after being very sick. Still in danger because of the war around him in Burma. Immigrants to Canada have some amazing misconceptions, funny and sad mixed together! Pray that God would pour out grace on us so we might learn well together. The well in Kenya continues to be an amazing story! So wonderful You know, water is mentioned 442 times in the Bible. It’s a big deal.

Les & Sharon - February 2022

FREY, LES & SHARON (Elmira, ON; Local Church) PRAISE: Good online Spanish students , some of which have addiction issues and several have said it is really hard to say goodbye to me and I feel the same. Marriage mentoring has proved effective and we personally are encouraged. Sharon keeps Spanish contacts and often prays with them by texting or phone. One lady expressed to her that she is her lifeline at present. PRAY: For wisdom in our many conversations by phone, email and texting that God would intervene in the lives we touch. Pray for the marriage mentoring to be expanded at WBC in the coming months. Pray for Les’ online Spanish students, for wisdom in answering them.

Esther Frey - February 2022

FREY, ESTHER (Puerto Rico; Emmaus Correspondence)  PRAISE:  Brian Array arrived and is settling into his teaching Spanish to high school grades.  He seems to love it.  He will give part time to the Emmaus office. He is presently living with me so I'll have some company.  The teens have started their weekly get togethers Friday evenings.  We are receiving more mail now for Emmaus.  Recently received a good donation from an ex-inmate.  When he got his first social security check he thought of us!

PRAY: We want to reach the seniors and children, so are asking wisdom of the Lord as to how and when. The repairs for the chapel are slowly moving forward. Now we have the plans for the bathrooms, so the next step is a contractor. Also for the needs of the roof.

Raul & Jessenia - February 2022

ESPINOZA, RAUL & JESSENIA (Guayaquil, Ecuador; MSC) PRAISE: Jessenia’s parents were able to return home safely and with only minor travel disruptions because of a bout with COVID. For great quality time with Jessenia’s family while they were here and the connections they made with Tiago. Also, though we are in our last month of the school year, the school is beginning a semi-in-person schedule for the students. PRAY: This month of January has been characterized by a surge of COVID cases, and once again things were shut down, though only for a couple weeks. We are glad to be back to in-person church and hope to begin with youth soon as well. Please pray too for wisdom and smooth travel plans as we look to travel back to Canada in March to await the birth of our second child.
